  • MANIPEX-2011 kicks off
    A three-day philatelic exhibition cum workshop, MANIPEX-2011 organized by the Department of Posts, Manipur Division kicked off at Imphal Head Post Office today. The inaugural function was attended by K Kevichusa, director of Postal Services, editor of Imphal Free Press, Pradip Phanjoubam and Dr P Rajumani as the dignitaries.
  • Maritime stamp issue by MaltaPost
    The Philatelic Bureau of MaltaPost plc has issued a set of four stamps entitled Maritime Malta depicting four vessels, which reflect the importance of maritime activities in Malta’s economic development and security. The stamps features the MV Ta’ Pinu of Gozo Channel, MV Jean De La Valette of Virtu Ferries, Patrol Boat – P23 of the Armed Forces of Malta and MV Spinola of Tug Malta.

  • Lord Steinberg of Belfast's rare stamp collection likely to fetch £4m at auction
    A COLLECTION of rare stamps described as “the private passion of a self-made man” is to be auctioned in a series of sales in September. Sotheby’s has announced the sale in London of the late Lord Steinberg of Belfast’s stamp collection which it expects to make £4 million. Leonard Steinberg, who died in 2009 aged 73, became a public figure and even survived an assassination attempt by the IRA. He was the son of Jewish Latvian immigrants to Northern Ireland and began his career as a bookmaker in Belfast.
